The Joy of Holding Fast

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
— HeBREWS 10:23

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PART OF DOXA?

We have been at Doxa since Summer 2018. It’s truly a privilege to say that!

What's your favorite song from Doxa's Hymnal?

An all-time favorite I was introduced to at Doxa is Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me. There are many more, of course.

What have you been able to behold?

I’ve hesitated to share the story I’ve been thinking of for 3 reasons:

  1. I have my own bias against mega-church and church marketing strategies that are not purely godly.

  2. This is not news to Pastor Jeth or any of the Doxa staff.

  3. I know Pastor Jeth and Doxa Church aren’t looking for a pat on the back nor deserve the glory.

When we have for years tried to hold fast to Biblical principles rather than pragmatics, it’s a joy to walk in on a Sunday morning and see the fruit of all that God has done.

But I’ve been pondering early days at Doxa when I was truly captured by the mission and vision presented by Pastor Jeth for Doxa Church, namely God’s glory above anything else. Then I was thinking about the early days of reading The Gospel-Driven Church, in agreement with rejecting those mega-church growth strategies described in the book.

In 2023 it has been extremely encouraging and exciting to see God grow Doxa Church in His timing. When we have for years tried to hold fast to Biblical principles rather than pragmatics, it’s a joy to walk in on a Sunday morning and see the fruit of all that God has done.

In what ways have you been transformed?

I do lean towards pragmatics and love a to-do list. So I appreciate Pastor Jeth keeping us centered on the Bible, prayer, and God’s glory before anything else. It has challenged me and helped me grow in this area.
