Glory Here, Glory There

Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you judge the peoples with equity
and guide the nations upon earth.
Selah

Let the peoples praise you,
O God; let all the peoples praise you!
— Psalm 67:4–5

Every Lord’s Day, we champion a vision which ties our joy to filling every inch of our community with glory of God. Basically, you’ll find we are sanctified plagarists, who have chosen to ride on the coats of God’s own promise. There will be a day, when the entire planet will come to knowledge of Him[Habakkuk 2:14; Isaiah 11:9; Numbers14:21]. The pervasiveness of His glory will leave no grain or speck sand in a state of ignorance. The Psalmist’s tell the reality of this truth reaches it’s climax when the pinnacle of God’s creation, the nations. When the nations come to a knowledge of God’s work of redemption in the gospel, when they behold Christ, they will — be glad and sing for joy [Psalm 67:4-5].

We joyfully exist for that here,Clay County, but also there, Indonesia, among the DAO tribe. Your generosity enables partnership with the Philips Family as they continue to labor for the gospel and train up missionaries.

I, personally, draw great encouragement from the testimony of the Philips. To be frank, the encouragement comes not from their courage to move their family across the globe, nor living among a primitive tribe; I love their obedience to Christ’s command [Matthew 28:18-20]. I am challenged by their love for sinners, but it’s the motivation. They, like the wonderful description by John Stott in his commentary on the book of Romans, the Philips family has a,

“zeal-burning and passionate zeal for the glory of Jesus Christ…concern for His Imperial Majesty…and for the glory of His empire.”

To those of you, who faithfully give to Doxa Church, thank you! Thank you for loving the gospel, choosing to live sacrificially, but even more importantly your concern to see inches of the earth filled with the glory of God.

May the Spirit arouse us with joy from a knowledge of Christ’s glory and cause us to more closely examine our hearts about how we can be even more generous for the sake of God’s glory!

Soli Deo Gloria,

The highest of missionary motives is neither obedience to the Great Commission (important as that is), nor love for sinners who are alienated and perishing (strong as that incentive is, especially when we contemplate the wrath of God...), but rather zeal-burning and passionate zeal—for the glory of Jesus Christ.... Only one imperialism is Christian... and that is concern for His Imperial Majesty Jesus Christ, and for the glory of his empire.’
— John Stott
