Pastoral Prayers

“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.”

Philippians 1:3-5

Dear Doxa Church,

It’s no secret that we live in a fallen world, filled to the brim with all sorts of ugly and unrighteous things. Lives are unjustly taken. Job promotions fall through. Marriages face strain. Kids don’t listen. Singleness feels like a curse. Doubt looms large, and we are often left with many questions. While our situations vary, I am sure that you see parts of brokenness in your own life. The fallen state of our residency can be heavy, confusing, and isolating, but we need not lose heart. There is glorious GOOD NEWS for us!

“Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Paul’s perspective in this scripture is magnificent and supremely Gospel-centered. Just like us, Paul lived in a fallen world. Yet, he exercised his faith in the Gospel by focusing on the things to come and turning his gaze to the hope found in Christ. In this scripture, we see that brokenness has a lager purpose to help refine us and prepare us for the glory that is to come! Though our outer self, the flesh, is weakening day by day, our inner self is being strengthened as we live by faith in Christ.

I know living in this fallen world is hard, but this is God’s chosen arena. This is where we GET to accomplish His mission. As you fix your eyes on Christ, it’s also important to know that you are not alone. As your pastor, my desire is to partner with you in prayer as you walk through life. We created a form for you to submit your prayer requests. All the prayer requests will only be viewed by myself. I consider it a privilege to pray with you and for you.
